Malaria elimination requires highly sensitive, reliable and easy-to-perform methods to confirm diagnosis with PCR, microscopy and ultra-sensitive RDT’s or a combination of these methods.
Today’s gold standard is still microscopy but its limit of detection (LOD) may vary substantially from a range of 50 to 100 parasites/μL according to the environment, the experience and the training of microscopists.
PCR is still limited to well-equipped centers mainly far from remote endemic areas and it conflicts with the need for rapid diagnosis to promptly initiate a documented treatment of malaria cases.
An improved LAMP method
Our disruptive approach will bring a cheap and efficient LAMP method without any need for a lab nor highly trained technicians closer to patients and health workers.
It can be used as a new reference for diagnosis in the field.
